Interspiro Safety Notice - Valve Cone

Safety Bulletin - Valve Cone - 2/19/03

Interspiro Valve Cone Assembly, number 336-190-064 & 336-890-129 (hereafter called valve cone) is being recalled. You must remove and replace the valve cone immediately. DO NOT DIVE the mask if you are not certain what is in your full face mask. The recall pertains to AGA full face masks (FFM) with serial numbers from 0227000 through 0306999 or if your mask was shipped in July of 2002. The valve pictured at the left is what the bad valve looks like. If the valve is Red, Blue or White you do not have to replace the valve unless it is worn, damaged or time to replace it (typically once year). The official Interspiro Safety Notice is attached below as a PDF file.

Pictured right is a black and blue valve cone. The black valve cone (left) is the recalled valve cone. The blue topped valve cone is a good one. Note they both have black bodies but only the assembly with the black sealing part is the bad vavle cone assembly.

WARNING: DO NOT USE ANY INTERSPIRO - AGA FULL FACE MASK THAT HAS A COMPLETELY BLACK VALVE CONE ASSEMBLY!

A quick way to determine if you have a blue or black valve cone is to disconnect the AGA supply hose and look down the end of the 2nd stage. If you see blue like the picture left, you do not have to go any further. If you see black, you need to proceed with proper disassembly to further investigate what black valve you have. All work on an Interspiro full face mask and/or 2nd stage regulator, must be preformed by a Certified Interspiro Technician. Contact Ocean Technology Systems for further assistance or questions.
