Hollywood & People

It all started when attending trade shows potential customers wanted to hear and see the product work.  It became evident that OTS would need a demonstration tape featuring divers talking underwater. After Michael talked to Al Giddings, Howard Hall and a few others about what industry standards for video production were, the price of $1,000.00 a minute for a finished video tape was shocking.
Knowing OTS had to have a show tape, Michael went out and bought a Hi8 V99 Sony camcorder and a Jay Mar Engineering underwater housing including lights. Jerry Peck (Michael's partner) and Michael experimented with ways to put real-time audio into the underwater video system. The result was studio quality sound that sent a shock wave to all producers and directors who had seen the demonstration tape.

The next step was to purchase editing equipment. Michael went out and bought items a piece at a time. Presently Michael can produce an entire video shooting with VX-2050 camcorder and editing digitally using a high speed computer and Adobe 6.1. The e88ect snow balled. Just about anyone in the movie industry filming anything to do with water, calls OTS to rent and/or buy equipment. It is not uncommon for producers or directors to have Mike or Jerry on set as an underwater communication consultant. With this experience, Michael has become known as a world class underwater videographer specialising in working with talents and sharks.

In 1991, Michael, Jerry, and OTS was presented with a National Emmy Award for the impact underwater communication had allowing talents to talk real time on camera. The documentary was shot on Cocos Island and was called, "Expedition Earth." The film starred Peter Benchly and Stan Waterman.  The underwater shooter was Marty Snyderman. The underwater sound shooter: Michael R. Pelissier.
