The Guardian full face mask has a custom designed
2nd stage regulator that was specifically designed for a full
face mask. We also realized what is involved with the maintenance
of a full face mask and regulator. We designed the 2nd stage
with trouble free maintenance in mind - it is easily removed!
This is important for cleaning and/or maintaining your full face
mask.
Locate the RED button inside the oral nasal
cavity (Pictured on the left side). |
 |
Depress the RED button (it is spring loaded). |
 |
While the RED button is depressed, pull the 2nd
stage away from the mask body. It will have some resistance due
to the heavy duty O-ring seal. Notice on the top of the 2nd stage
is an indexing plug. This is used to ensure the 2nd stage is
reinstalled properly (see instruction manual before taking the
system apart). |
 |
After the 2nd stage is removed, the mask and/or
2nd stage can be cleaned or serviced. Service is to be performed
by a "Authorized OTS Service Technician"
only. |
 |
The 2nd stage only has a few parts which makes
it easy to maintain and is extremely cost effective. The few
parts to the left are most of the parts found in the exhaust
side of the 2nd stage. |
|
In a few seconds you can completely disassemble
the 2nd stage. Only a few parts have to be replaced yearly (i.e.
o-rings, sealing disc, etc.). |
 |
The valve stem system holds the sealing cone. |
 |
The sealing disc (blue in this picture) can be
easily replaced ensuring your 2nd stage seals properly. You simply
pull out the old blue sealing disc and push in the new one! This
part should be replaced yearly or if it becomes damaged (only
a certified OTS Authorized Technician should service the regulator). |
 |
Part of the valve stem system is the sealing
surface. The knife edge seals cleanly on the sealing disc. |
 |
Reinstalling the 2nd stage is equally easy. Just
line up the 2nd stage with indexing plug to the index on the
full face mask body and snap into place. |
 |
After the 2nd stage is snapped in place, give
it a good tug to ensure it snapped in place firmly and you're
ready to dive. |
